a collection of personal photos

I struggled a few times leaving behind our home 6 houses south of us. I wanted to keep it as a rental that way it would always be in our possession. I could have it within reach between tenants but in this season of our lives we couldn't handle the upkeep and were worried that it could perhaps take a financial toll on us as we just ventured to a new remodel of an even older home.  I knew of every chip on the quarter rounds surrounding the living space of that bungalow. I knew how to avoid the creak in the floor in front of the kitchen sink if I were holding Jordan while he slept. I loved every decision about our remodel and I only looked forward to finishing the rest of our projects. When we decided to sale it all happened so fast that I focused more on packing than really capturing our last days there. I got what I felt I could and what was necessary at the time.

Driver Home Tour

I have had such an itch to start a personal project where I showcase homes in our lovely downtown community. We all have our hearts pouring into just about every project going on beneath the rooftops between each street sign. Whether you're driving by with a wave, walking the sidewalks and stopping to discuss your daily doings or even sharing contacts for home improvements, we are all connected and feeling the growth. I can't help but to try and document it. So if you would like to be a part of my personal project please let me know. I would love to come to your home and photograph it as you see it. Do you have a remodel in the works? Let's do a before and after and tell us all about it! Do you have one room that you absolutely love? Let me show it off. What about a garden or landscape design that you've worked hard on and it's in bloom and you really want to capture it? Let's do it!

With that being said, I would love to start off my project with this awesome couple I recently met. Some of you may know we randomly decided to sale our home and move 6 homes north to a home we have said for a couple of years now that if we ever had the chance to buy we would do whatever we could to do so. We didn't imagine the opportunity would come so quickly. To make a long story short - Brahm and Amanda Driver bought our home and we couldn't be more happier to have them take it into their hands and make it a home of their own. We worked very closely with them in June and I'm thankful our paths crossed as I know we will continue to be grand friends. Enjoy the tour everyone and I hope to hear from some of you to continue the project!!

What brought your family to Downtown Rogers?

We moved to NWA for Amanda's job at Crystal Bridges. We were renting in Fayetteville, but the daily commute to Bentonville was taking its toll on Amanda. We visited Downtown Rogers one weekend and fell in love! We walked around the neighborhood, had coffee at Iron Horse and dinner at The Rail. Everyone was so friendly and there was such positive energy towards revitalizing downtown. We knew we wanted to be a part of that and live in a walkable community.

In one paragraph or less tell us what you know about your home including year built, style, square footage and any other facts you would like to include.

Our house was built in 1953 and it is 1350 square feet. Not sure if it would be considered a specific architectural style, but we think of it as a cottage or bungalow.  Fun fact, we heard from a neighbor that a previous owner years ago tried to farm peanuts in the backyard.

What is your favorite thing about your home?

We love the outdoor space, the original hardwood floors and moldings. For an older home, it has quite a bit of storage including bigger closets, attic space and garage.

Could you name a couple of favorite pieces in your home?

Our favorite things are our artwork and souvenirs from travels. We like to collect works from local artists and family and friends and display maps and trinkets to remind us of our trips. We made a pact when we married nine years ago to alternate domestic and international trips each year - so far we've stuck to it!

What is one of your favorite things to do in downtown Rogers?

We love the walkability and visiting downtown restaurants and shops. Our new favorite things are the Saturday farmers market and Thursday night movies. We also love the impromptu barbecues and neighborhood gatherings that seem to pop up just about every weekend.

Did you make any additions to the home? If so, feel free to share your sources and/or process of the additions.

We added a door off our living room and a deck onto the side of the house to enhance the outdoor space. We use it just about every day to enjoy our morning coffee, play with the girls or grill and eat dinner. We love it! It was designed and built by BRYArchitecture.

Thank you Brahm and Amanda for sharing!!
